MIDLAND PARK, N.J. -- An Iranian national living in Jersey City broke into a Midland Park woman's home and raped her while wielding a weapon Sunday night, authorities said Monday.
Weyam Rushdi, 36, was being held on $2 million bail in the Bergen County Jail; charged with aggravated sexual assault using a weapon, kidnapping, burglary, threats to kill and weapons possession, among other counts.
The victim "walked into Midland Park Police headquarters and reported that she was physically and sexually assaulted in her residence by an intruder," Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
An investigation by members of Grewal's Special Victims Unit and Midland Park police followed, he said.
