YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A 74-year-old Midland Park driver escaped serious injury when his Jeep struck a truck loaded with cases of Snapple iced tea that overturned in Wyckoff.

Walter Feasenmeyer was driving a 1996 Jeep when it struck the truck, which had fallen directly in front of him near the intersection of Maple Drive, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said this afternoon.

The truck was headed north on Cedar Hill Avenue when 32-year-old driver David W. Fernandez of Elizabeth lost control and it tipped over, Fox said.

Brake issues may have been to blame, he said.

Feasenmeyer’s Jeep plowed through the sheet metal cargo section. He was taken to the hospital with chest and facial injuries that the chief said weren’t considered life-threatening.

The truck driver had minor injuries, he said.

Cedar Hill Avenue was closed for nearly five hours while Wyckoff Fire Department, Wyckoff DPW members and towing company personnel offloaded the remaining contents.
