YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A shoplifting that turned into a baby formula robbery ended with a supermarket cart collector hospitalized and three Queens men  in custody following a chase that ended off Route 17 in Ho-Ho-Kus tonight.

Two of the robbers loaded a shopping cart with $3,000 worth of Enfamil at the A&P on Franklin Turnpike in Mahwah and headed for a car in the parking lot driven by an accomplice just before 7:30 p.m., Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

CLIFFVIEW PILOT broke the story Wednesday night

“They steal the Enfamil in bulk and then sell it to stores and bodegas in the city,” Batelli said.

The 20-something cart collector approached the pair in the parking lot and took out his cellphone, the chief said.

“Thats when one of them cold-cocked him,” the chief said. The employee was later taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern with a head injury, Batelli said.

Witnesses gave police a description of the getaway car and a partial license plate, the chief told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .

A Mahwah police officer saw the vehicle getting onto Route 17 south seconds later, he said.

A chase followed before the driver lost control of the car trying to take the exit at Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. All three bailed out — with Mahwah police immediately grabbing one of them, Batelli said.

Mahwah and Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 units joined officers from Mahwah, Ho-Ho-Kus and Ridgewood in the search, which ended with the remaining two suspects grabbed at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station off Hollywood Avenue, the chief said.

Jovan Milton Alleyne, 18, Marvin Guillaume-Sam and Linson Watson, both 22, remained held overnight in the police lockup pending Municipal Court appearances.

Watson ( above, left ) and Alleyne ( right ) were each charged with robbery, assault and shoplifting.

Guillaume-Sam ( middle ) was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, shoplifting and assault.
