ANOTHER CVP SCOOP : With a potential blizzard approaching, a 69-year-old Alzheimer’s patient who wandered off from home was found by members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, thanks to a Project Lifesaver wristband transmitter.

The man was last seen near the Railroad Avenue entrance to Saddle River Park yeseterday.

Using the special program’s technology, BCSO Officer Vincent Surace, working with Rochelle Park Police Officer Doug Arendacs, tracked him down in the park.

“The officers involved in this incident quickly coordinated their efforts, utilized the Project Lifesaver technology and rescued a citizen who was disoriented and exposed to the elements,” Sheriff Michael Saudino said.

“With a major snow storm approaching, it was absolutely necessary to locate [him] as quickly as possible,” the sheriff said. “Congratulations go to them and to the Project Lifesaver team.”

The rapid-response Project Lifesaver International program is designed to locate adults and children who have gone missing due to Alzheimer’s, autism, Down Syndrome, dementia and other related disorders.
