A 27-year-old student from Connecticut was arrested Thursday after he showed up in Upper Saddle River for what he thought would be a sexual tryst with an 8-year-old girl, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Detectives from Molinelli’s Computer Crimes Task Force, under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello, charged James E. Briggs, of Brookfield, with luring, attempted rape and attempted endangerment after snatching him up at noon today, the prosecutor said.
Briggs, who is single, made the arrangements online — only he was communicating with an investigator. He has a Jan. 15 date in Upper Saddle River Municipal Court. Until then, a judge ordered him held on $60,000 bail and that psychological evaluation be done.
