UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- Thomas Kennedy, 85, of Upper Saddle River, died Sept. 7. He was 85.
He was born in Weehawken in 1931.
Kennedy lived in Bergenfield before moving to Upper Saddle River 60 years ago. He was a self-employed general contractor in Ramsey. Starting as a brick layer at a young age, together with his brothers, they started Kennedy Construction Companies. Starting out as home builders, they went on to become commercial contractors. He was a member of the brick layers union.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Susan, Scott, Barbara, Cheryl and Christine; and grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Jacqueline, Thomas, Mallory, Jack, Jay, Zachary and Robert.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Julie.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel’s Church, 88 E. Saddle River Road, Saddle River. A private cremation will be conducted.
