UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — The Upper Saddle River Recreation Commission is asking runners in the Thanksgiving Day 5K to bring towels and linens to benefit the Center for Hope and Safety in Bergen County. The Oct. 26 race will begin at 9 a.m. — rain or shine — at Saddle River Road's Cavallini School.

There will be coffee and bagels for spectators, a disc jockey, and post-race refreshments.

Proceeds from this year's race will benefit several local organizations including the Center for Hope and Safety, — a female domestic violence center -- along with L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs), the local Ambulance Corps and Fire Department, the USR Education Foundation and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, among others.

The Baby Buggy Brigade will be a new competitive category for this year's race.
