Ridgewood police brought the casing from the Montessori School on Franklin Avenue to headquarters for examination, after an employee found it on the playground, sources said.

"With all of the Memorial Day Ceremonies held recently, it could have come from a variety of places," Chief Jacqueline Luthcke told Daily Voice. "Nothing else was found in the area."

Blanks do not contain bullets. They're generally used when the sound or flash of a gun firing is needed, such as during funerals or military reenactments.
