YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A uniformed Ridgewood police officer was slightly injured late Friday while arresting a man who briefly barricaded himself inside his home.
What began as a domestic incident in the 400 block of Oak Street escalated, bringing officers from neighboring Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus and Midland Park.
The Bergen County Police Department SWAT team was requested, but police removed the man from the home before the assistance was needed.
The injured patrol officer was transported to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood by members of the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
The exact nature of the officer’s injuries was unclear, but authorities said they appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Meawhile, 43-year-old Joseph K. Evans was being held on $15,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 230-pound Evans is charged with harassment, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and obstruction.
