Erin Grace Marciniak, 26, was released on a summons pending a March 30 first appearance in Central Judicial Municipal Court in Hackensack, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said Monday.

Detective Lucas Doney arrested Marciniak of Marlboro Road on theft charges after reviewing video from the store’s surveillance system, Ackermann said.

Owners of the store -- considered a borough institution -- said she’d taken $17,974 “over the course of a prolonged period through fraudulent transactions at her register,” the chief said.

But investigators were only able to prove $12,000 was taken, he said.
