Driver Hospitalized In Hackensack Chain-Reaction Crash

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- A female driver was hospitalized after a chain-reaction crash nearly downed a utility pole in Hackensack late Thursday afternoon.

A Nissan Altima struck a Honda CR-V, pushing it into the pole on Maple Avenue behind the Family Dollar store.

The CR-V driver was taken to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.

Maple Avenue remained closed while a crew worked to repair the damage.

The accident shut the power of some surrounding buildings.
