Wyckoff Girl Dies Holding Parents' Hands

WYCKOFF, N.J. — Emma Louise Weidener of Wyckoff died on Sunday, March 26, holding her parents' hands, with her siblings nearby. She was 4 years old.

Emma was born with a rare metabolic disorder called "Tri-functional Protein Deficiency" and faced an extended stay in the hospital.

"Meeting Emma you would have no idea this happy, smiling, & energetic girl was coping with a condition that affects your energy," her obituary says.

"Emma always knew who needed a [h]ug and would run up to give it, even to someone she just met," it adds. Her "passion for life shined."

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Noreen, and siblings, Marissa and Andrew.

More than $21,000 had been raised for Emma and her family on a GoFundMe page as of Friday morning.
