WALDWICK, N.J. -- Rosario A. “Sam” Ganguzza, 90, of Waldwick, died Monday, June 27, 2016.
Born in Italy, he lived in Oradell before moving to Waldwick.
He was the former owner of Valley Fair Corporation in Totowa, and then worked as a butcher at the Market Basket in Franklin Lakes for 10 years before retiring in 2009.
Ganguzza loved attending church, playing cards, assembling puzzles, red wine and making people laugh. He was a joyful soul and filled the hearts of everyone around him.
He is survived by his children, Denise Ganguzza of Waldwick, Joseph Ganguzza and his wife Diane Noah of Nanuet, N.Y., and Joyce Carl and her husband Thomas of Mahwah; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph and his wife Francis; sister-in-law Marion Marinaro; and many nieces and nephews.
Ganguzza was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Marie in 2008; and his siblings, Philip and wife Betty, Buck and wife Fran, Vusty and wife Thelma and Grace and husband Jimmy.
Visiting hours are from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington.
