MIDLAND PARK, N.J. -- Alice Baker (nee Kruithof), 88, of Midland Park, passed away March 9, 2016. Born in Midland Park, she was a lifelong resident.
Prior to her retirement in 2000, she worked for the Glen Rock Police Department as the chief’s secretary and records clerk for 29 years and also was a court clerk in Midland Park for nine years. A member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, she served as a deaconess and was a member of its ladies group and church choir.
Baker enjoyed bowling and was known to have bowled a perfect game (300). She also was a volunteer at Ditto in North Haledon and at the de Snoep Winkle Gift Shop at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff.
She was the wife of 68 years of Clarence Baker of Midland Park; mother of David (Paula) Baker of Michigan, Richard (Cynthia) Baker of Florida, Joan (Gary) Rozema of Midland Park, Garry (Janet) Baker of Midland Park, Larry (Joan) Baker of California, Jane Wondergem of Mahwah, Alison (Brian) Leentjes of New York and the late Robert Baker and his surviving wife, Anne of Australia; grandmother of 24 and great-grandmother of 18.
The family will receive family and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, Midland Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Ave., Midland Park, NJ 07432 or the Christian Health Care Center, 300 Sicomac Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
