Anna B. Burkhart, 90, recovering from a fractured hip, was kept in a hospital bed -- where she developed the bedsore -- for 100 days, according to the article.
The attorney representing Burkhart’s family told NJ.com that a doctor and staff at Oradell either failed to notice or ignored the bedsore, and the family discovered it after she was discharged.
Burkhart’s family brought her to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, and doctors there said the bedsore had caused sepsis, and she returned home where she died in hospice care, the suit says, according to NJ.com.
