Waldwick, N.J. -- Two local students have been awarded scholarships sponsored by the Waldwick-based RealSource Association of Realtors.
This year, the RealSource scholarships were given in honor of Gene Azzalina of Centennial Real Estate in Elmwood Park and in honor of Joan Sobeck of RE/MAX Elite Associates of Westwood.
The recipient of the Gene Azzalina Scholarship is Rae Farapore. He currently attends Rutgers University and is a re-med major. The recipient of the Joan Sobeck Scholarship is Rebecca Miksr Sahdi. She will be attending Seton Hall University and will be majoring in criminal pre-law.
"Education is a huge factor in real estate and we are thrilled to help Rae and Rebecca to advance their knowledge in their chosen fields," said Kathy Houston, president of RealSource Association of Realtors.
"We want to encourage any future high school seniors who will be attending or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate four-year institution and students pursuing graduate studies in real estate or related fields to apply for a scholarship in the coming years."
These scholarships are administered by the New Jersey Realtors' Educational Foundation, and are awarded to members or relatives of New Jersey Realtor members. Students are selected based on academic achievements, financial needs, interest in real estate endeavors and contributions to family, school and community.RealSource Association of Realtors is a nonprofit realtor trade association serving over 3,000 real estate professionals.
