Waldwick Man Raises Funds For Cousin Battling Brain Cancer

WALDWICK, N.J. — A Waldwick man was more than halfway to his goal of raising funds for his cousin, who is battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Sal Minervini’s GoFundMe account will help Robert Colucci —a husband and father of two young boys — who is being treated for Stage 4 Gliobastoma Multiforme.

Blood seems to be thicker than the ocean water that separates Minervini and Colucci, of Italy.

“He texted all of the cousins yesterday telling us not to take money from our pockets to help him,” Minervini said. “But of course we will — we’re family.”

Colucci was walking around New York City last April while visiting family when he approached a homeless man and asked if he wanted food or money.

“He’s the type of person that would give you the last dollar if he had it,” Minervini said. “He’s a real down to earth guy with an amazing heart.”

Colucci is temporarily unemployed and his wife has been struggling with the bills, but Minervini says his cousin’s attitude is “extremely positive.”

Minervini hopes the campaign will motivate his cousin to stay in good spirits and keep fighting.
