HO-HO-KUS, N.J. — Former New Milford English teacher and owner of Granny’s Attic Antique Emporium Maury Alan Lubman in Ho-Ho-Kus published "Mishagoss: Poetry For People Who Hate Poetry."
He started the book after seeing a friend through a difficult time. It's intended to tap into pure emotion.
“I don’t like a lot of poetry,” said Lubman, of Wayne. “With my work, it’s about the human condition.”
Lubman discusses war, love, loss, politics and life in general. “The Spider,” for example, is based on seeing an actual spider on the windshield of a vehicle.
"Mishagoss" was on Amazon but is now sold in his North Maple Avenue shop — which has one of the largest antique collections in New Jersey..
"I sold a couple yesterday," he said. "I had some people break down in tears after they heard a poem."
