Clay turns 59 on Thursday.
Andrew Clay Silverstein was born Sept. 29, 1957, and raised in Brooklyn. The "Dice" portion of his name comes from a character in an early act -- "the dice man" -- that he ultimately played fully in his comedy.
His raunchy, sexually-explicit material was also viewed by some as sexist, and it sometimes got him into trouble, as in 1989, when he performed "adult nursery rhymes" at the MTV Video Music Awards -- and MTV theoretically banned him for life. The ban was rescinded in 2011, however.
Clay has a dozen stand-up specials and continues to tour. He's had numerous TV and film roles over the years, and has a new show, "Dice." The show's six episodes are available on a variety of streaming platforms, and it's just been picked up for a second season.
He published an autobiography, "The Filthy Truth," in 2014.
