Fassel, a former Ho-Ho-Kus resident, turns 66 on Monday.
Fassel, who coached the New York Giants to a Super Bowl, was born Aug. 31, 1949.
After a brief playing stint with the Hawaiians of the World Football League, Fassel began a 33-year career as an NFL and collegiate coach. He served as an assistant for the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders before taking over as head coach of the Giants in 1997. Fassel went 58-53-1 over seven seasons in New York, including an appearance in the Super Bowl XXXV. Unfortunately for Fassel and New York, the G-Men lost the game to the Baltimore Ravens.
