HO-HO-KUS, N.J. — Happy birthday to NFL great Dan Reeves of Ho-Ho-Kus, who holds the record as the leading Super Bowl participant as player and coach.

Reeves turns 72 on Thursday, Jan. 19 and has lived in the borough since his days of coaching the Giants from 1993-96. He is an Atlanta native and was a quarterback for the University of South Carolina.

He was a running back for Dallas and the Giants and became the NFL's sixth-leading rushers. He played in Super Bowl V and Super Bowl VI and also was an assistant coach in Super Bowl X, Super Bowl XII, Super Bowl XIII.

He was the Denver Broncos' Head Coach in Super Bowl XXI, Super Bowl XXII and Super Bowl XXIV. Reeves also took the Broncos to five divisional titles and three AFC championships.

For Super Bowl XXXIII, he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. After going 7-9 his first season, Reeves took Atlanta to its greatest season in franchise history.

He also coached the Dallas, Cowboys from 1981-1992.

He also worked as an analyst for the Westwood One radio network covering NFL games.
