Campaign Aids Upper Saddle River Family Forced From Home After Fire

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — More than $2,300 had been raised as of Wednesday evening on a GoFundMe page for an Upper Saddle River family that lost its home and all of its contents in a Jan. 29 fire.

Peter Cooper, with his son Griffen, now in 6th grade, along with his wife, Suzanne Cooper, were forced from their Upper Saddle River home after a fire broke out in January.

Suzanne and Peter Cooper, along with their 6th grade son, Griffen, and dog, Cookie, escaped unharmed “with only the clothes on their back,” the site’s founder Janet Whitman-Moskowitz said on the page.

“While the family is physically okay and so grateful to be alive they are emotionally devastated as one can only imagine,” she said.

The family will be staying in a hotel from anywhere between 6 to 18 months until arrangements are made with insurance to rebuild the home.

“The Coopers are extremely hard working people and they are always the first in line to help others in need and lend a helping hand,” Moskowitz said. “It takes a village at a time like this and with everyone’s help, loving hearts and generosity we can make help this broken family become whole again.”
