WALDWICK, N.J. -- It’s hard to resist the summertime combo of sipping and noshing outdoors. All you need is some sun (or shade) and your choice of a secluded patio, sidewalk seating or a rooftop deck -- and someone else doing the cooking, cleaning and serving.

Nellie’s Place, Waldwick

Why It's Outdoor Worthy: Yes, there really is a Nellie. She and Joe have operated the popular Irish pub with children, Karen and Chris, since 1989. The community oriented tavern is known for its thin-crust pizza and crispy, secretly spiced “Elkin” wings, named after the chef who used to make them just for the bartenders and servers. You can wash them down with Smithwick’s or Guinness, only two of the great ales and stouts they have on tap, as you soak in the sun on their enclosed outdoor patio.
