UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The JCO of Northern Bergen County will be raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation on Thursday, April 21, through a Lemonade Stand and Food Truck Fest.
The mission of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is "to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily for research into new treatments and cures, and to encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer," according to its website.
The foundation is the legacy of Alexandra "Alex" Scott, a young girl who had cancer and set up a lemonade stand to raise money for cancer research. She didn't survive her illness, but the foundation continues, raising money for research -- both through adult-run fundraisers like this and also through lemonade booths from kids across the county.
Attendees can enjoy food from Callahan's Hot Dogs, Waffle de Lys and Carmelo's Brick Oven Pizza. There's no entry fee, but bring your appetite and your money for the varied food.
The event will run from 2:30-6 p.m. in Lions Park, 240 Lake St. A sister event, JCO's Boutique Night, on May 5, will also benefit the foundation.
