UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The Upper Saddle River Recreation Commission & Historical Society will sponsor a historic "Base Ball" game Saturday, Oct. 3 with the teams playing by the rules of 1864, wearing replica uniforms -- and not using gloves.
There's no admission fee for the doubleheader, which begins at 1 p.m. at Hess Court. There will be limited seating, so bring a chair.
Hot dogs, soda, baked goods, peanuts and crackerjacks will be available.The squads are based on genuine teams.The 1865 Gotham Base Ball Club of New York evolved into the Giants, now of San Francisco..
The Flemington Neshanock Base Ball Club was composed mainly of the town’s prominent citizens. The team's biggest rivals were the Lambertville Logans.
