ALLENDALE, N.J. – The John Fell House is to play host to the Mistletoe Madness 2016 One-Stop Holiday Shopping event in early December, according to a statement from organizers.
The two-day event is scheduled from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, and from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
According to the historical property’s website, the John Fell House – once called “Peterfield” – is uniquely suited to host a holiday shopping event.
Fell was a merchant before the American Revolution who actively sold his goods along the Hackensack and Passaic rivers, according to the website.
An accomplished judge and statesman, Fell went on to ratify the Constitution as a member of the First Continental Congress, according to the website.
Known as a “great Tory Hunter,” Fell was captured by British loyalists and held captive for more than a year from April 1777 to May 1778, according to the website, which said that a diary he kept later as a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey is now kept in the Library of Congress.
The John Fell House is located at 475 Franklin Turnpike. Learn more about the event online .
