The Holiday Champagne Tea has been scheduled for noon – 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Historic John Fell House, which will be decorated for the season, according to organizers, who said the event sold out.
"We try to have a theme for the teas we hold throughout the year,” said Linda Schropp, an event co-chair. “Traditionally, we have a holiday tea. This year, it’s going to be a little special with a champagne toast to the holidays."
While all spots for the event are full, organizers are maintaining a wait list.
A variety of teas held throughout the year are a tradition at the house.
According to Schropp, the ornate teapots used are donated to the historic site by local residents and estates.
John Fell was a patriot during the American Revolution who later served Bergen County as a justice of the peace, a judge and as a member of the New Jersey Council, according to the John Fell House website, which added that he ratified the U.S. Constitution while serving as a member of the First Continental Congress.
While living in the home at 475 Franklin Turnpike, which dates to before the Revolution, Fell called the house “Peterfield,” according to the website.
