HO-HO-KUS, N.J. – Bring the family and join members of Company B, 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers, when they stage a Civil War encampment on the grounds of the Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The re-enactment will include pitched soldier tents and fire pits, as well as live firing demonstrations of military rifles and a mortar from the period. Learn what Civil War life was like by speaking with the historical re-enactors. Visit the museum's education center and view indoor displays of Civil War artifacts. Hands-on activities will be available for children.

New this year is the candlelight camp tour from 6-7 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will be given camp passes and get a glimpse of soldiers' lives during evening camp. Card playing, letter writing, music sessions and medical scenarios will be re-enacted by the volunteers.

Encampment admission is $7 per person, and the all-ages candlelight camp tour admission is $5 per person.

The Hermitage is at 335 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus.
