ALLENDALE, N.J.– The Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence (AFEE) is hosting the 21st Annual Dinner and Auction on March 11 in the Grand Ballroom at the Mahwah Sheridan.
Last year, the nonprofit raised $100,000 – it’s greatest total to date.
“For a district our size, that’s pretty phenomenal,” AFEE President Anne Kay said of the funds.
Proceeds go towards funding future grants at Hillside and Brookside schools. Teachers or residents can submit grant applications, Kay said.
Approximately $152,500 was approved in 2015, and appropriated toward K-8 programs including a workshop, introduction to engineering program and an author visit.
“It’s a wonderful way to give back to the community by raising money for our children’s schools and ensure they have exemplary education experience,” said Kay, who served as AFEE’s vice president last year.
The upcoming event will feature raffle baskets, and silent and live auctions, and is AFEE’s largest fundraiser of the year, Kay said.
“The teachers have been incredibly supportive and responsive. It’s been a very enjoyable experience," Kay said. "Whatever we raise will be put to good use."
