“I have people call, say, ‘Can you tell me how your bagels are made?’” Anthony Minuto, 30, of Saddle River, told Daily Voice during a recent visit to his store. “I am like, ‘no.’”

But he did reveal to Daily Voice what he said makes his bagels “the best.”

“The recipe, and they are hand-rolled,” he said, careful not to disclose the ingredients.

Minuto and his family bought the downtown shop six years ago.

Minuto studied business at New York University. After graduating, he worked at a hedge fund before turning his attention to the bagel business.

“I like working with people, the customers,” he said.

The busy spot usually has a line out the door, Minuto said. He credits the success to the popular bagels, but also the donuts, muffins and crumb cake.

Minuto said he hired the former baker from B&W Bakery in Hackensack.

“He makes all the muffins from scratch,” Minuto said. He also makes the crumb cake. The spot even sells cups full of crumbs, minus the cake, for customers to enjoy.

Ronnie’s Hot Bagels and Coffee House is located at 118 Broadway in Hillsdale.
