WALDWICK, N.J. – Multiple concussions and head injuries is what Reena Chawla of Ramsey said propelled her to launch a Waldwick brain and body-wellness facility.
Reebel Wellness offers 90-minute classes on coding and robotics for children and teens, along with yoga, meditation and adult fitness classes.
The 2,300-square-foot facility is a continuation of the Indian immigrant's journey.
“The primary focus is on integrated brain and body enrichment,” said Chawla, formerly of Morgan Stanley. “I want our kids to be active creators using technology rather than passive consumers of technology.”
Whether they're are on an elliptical or completing or honing their fine-motor skills, Chawla's clients are bettering themselves.
Some children accustomed to iPads had their first encounters with laptops at Reebel. A benefit of the children's programs offered at Reebel is the independence that they foster, Chawla said.
“Empowerment is key for me, whether it’s a person recovering from injury or a guarded child," Chawla said. "They get to explore here.”
April will mark Reebel's second anniversary at its current location.
“No judgement no labels, no nothing,” Chawla said of the environment. “Just come in and have fun.”
