It's the egg-potato-cheese-bacon-taylor ham-ham sandwich that restaurant owner Denise Kimball says earned her W. Allendale Avenue establishment the top slot on a list of 15 best breakfast places in New Jersey.

Allendale Eats — founded in 2009 by Kimball and her son, Kyle Cauwenberghs — named the masterpiece after Cauwenbergh’s grandfather, “Big Pete.”

The hero is one of dozens of menu items close to the family members’ hearts.

“Kyle and I used to bake and cook together,” said Kimball, of Glen Rock. “Our homemade pulled-pork started out as pork loin in a crock pot for a barbecue but Kyle ended up perfecting it with Jack Daniels and brown sugar.”

Pies as basic as pumpkin or as extravagant as chocolate-peanut butter are on sale now for Allendale Eats’ annual Thanksgiving pie sale.
